 Hey gang, my name is Russell Husted, and I am the current president of the Fort Worth Fly Fishers.  What is my favorite style of fishing? Catching Sand Bass was my favorite type of fishing, but I have found a new love!! Carp Fishing!! Yeah, that's right. Did not realize what a great and difficult species to catch a carp is. I got this beast in Crooked Creek, near Yellville, Arkansas, at this last conclave. I had just switched to 2x tippet, and was targeting large smallies, with a craw fly, when this fish paid me a visit. After a long and tiresome battle, I hog tied this guy. He slimed nearly all of me, but it was awesome!! What  made it more special, is that I caught it on my favorite Fenwick rod. The FF75!!  I enjoy using old vintage fly rods, to get the task done. Fenwick rods, are my choice, and I have seven of them. Starting with an ultralight 535, which I love to use, all the way up to the beast, the 858. I use that rod for chasing stripers. If you have not tried fishing with old fiberglass rods, of any model, you are missing out. Give them a try!! You will not be disappointed.
